National Gas Transmission plc

National Gas is the backbone of Britain’s energy system and comprises three National Gas businesses and Premtech:
National Gas Transmission (NGT) owns and operates the high-pressure national gas network (National Transmission System). NGT is responsible for the transportation of gas across the country’s pipeline network, ensuring a stable and reliable supply of gas to power stations, major industries and regional distribution networks.
National Gas Metering manages and maintains millions of gas meters throughout Great Britain, enabling homes and industry to access the energy they need safely and reliably.
National Gas Services encompass a range of support functions, including planned and emergency gas pipeline inspection, repair, maintenance and replacement.
Premtech provides multi-disciplinary design service for high-pressure onshore pipelines and associated infrastructure.
National Gas is committed to achieving the Government’s net-zero targets through innovation surrounding hydrogen and carbon capture. The SCO2T Connect project supports the development of Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) in the Scottish cluster, helping industries and power generation sites across Scotland to decarbonise, whilst also securing jobs and contributing towards economic growth for the UK.
National Gas plans to repurpose existing gas pipelines, whilst also building new connections, to provide a cost-effective solution for transporting CO2 from the central belt of Scotland to an interface point at St Fergus. Acorn will then safely transport the CO2 offshore for permanent storage.
