RWE Generation UK plc

RWE is the largest power producer in the UK, and a leading renewable generator supplying around 15% of the UK electricity with a diverse operational portfolio of onshore wind, offshore wind, Hydro, Biomass and gas. RWE currently operates approximately 7 GW of conventional, efficient gas-fired capacity in the UK. RWE believe this firm and flexible power remains an essential part of our country’s energy mix, now and in the future. We also recognise the need to decarbonise our gas fleet, and will ensure that our UK gas fleet operations transition to support the UK’s decarbonisation targets whilst continuing to maintain security of supply. We are therefore considering carbon capture projects to provide a decarbonised future for a number of our existing gas-fired power stations, and a new-build carbon-capture enabled power station.

Revcoo

Revcoo is a French cleantech company pioneering industrial decarbonisation through cryogenic carbon capture. Founded in 2019, Revcoo designs, manufactures and installs CarbonCloud, a patented, solvent-free technology that captures CO₂ directly from industrial flue gases using a unique freezing process. The company serves industrial sites across France and is actively expanding throughout Europe and internationally.
CarbonCloud is a modular, turnkey solution that separates CO₂ from other exhaust gases by freezing it, converting it into liquid or gas form, ready for storage or reuse. It is particularly well suited to “unavoidable” emissions from industries like cement, lime, and glass, where even clean fuels cannot eliminate CO₂. It also captures biogenic emissions from biomass and waste-to-energy processes.
Unlike traditional chemical-based capture systems, Revcoo’s technology is non-toxic, solvent-free, water-free, and 100% electric. It requires no changes to existing production processes, is easy to install, and is designed for fast deployment across a wide range of industrial settings.
Revcoo is committed to delivering practical, scalable solutions to help manufacturers reduce their environmental impact without compromising performance or competitiveness. The company aims to capture over one million tonnes of CO₂ annually by 2030, contributing to the EU’s goal of carbon neutrality.
Revcoo is jointly led by founder and President Hugo Lucas, and CEO Arnaud Paulik. Together, they are driving the company’s growth as a trusted European partner in the global carbon capture space, offering a clean, efficient, and sovereign alternative to conventional technologies. Revcoo is on a mission to accelerate industrial decarbonisation through innovation and collaboration, shaping a more sustainable future for heavy industries.

Promethean Particles

Promethean Particles (“Promethean”) is a UK-based global pioneer, leading the industrial-scale manufacture of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) – an exciting class of advanced materials that have extraordinarily high surface areas and can act as “sieves” or “sponges” on a molecular level. Promethean is primarily focused on developing and manufacturing MOFs for use in the fight against climate change, particularly for carbon capture and storage (CCS), biogas upgrading, water harvesting, and gas storage applications.
In the case of CCS, MOF-based carbon capture has the potential to deliver significant advantages over existing technologies; increased energy-efficiency, lower capital and operating costs, lower process complexity, smaller operating footprint, and an improved environmental, health and safety (EHS) profile. Similar benefits are expected for MOF-based processes over incumbent technologies in the other application areas targeted by Promethean.
However, the capabilities of MOFs has never been realised due to low manufacturing volumes and high costs. Promethean is unleashing the power of MOFs through the use of its patented manufacturing processes, which dramatically improve throughput and cost whilst increasing process reliability and consistency. Promethean operates a MOF manufacturing facility at its site in Nottingham, UK, that is the world’s largest manufacturing plant of its kind. The company also has an ever-increasing portfolio of new intellectual property on its manufacturing processes and products.
Since closing its Series A investment round in July 2024, Promethean has grown its team significantly to accelerate the commercialisation of MOF-based technologies. This has included expansion of its capabilities in both the large-scale manufacture, and application development, of MOFs. Promethean is collaborating with several organisations to evaluate MOFs in real-world environments and measure performance. Results to-date have been exciting, demonstrating that MOFs offer multiple benefits over alternative separation and capture technologies. For CCS, larger-scale MOF-based demonstration units are now planned on the path to full-scale implementation.

Phillips 66 UK

The Phillips 66 Limited Humber Refinery is advancing a differentiated, innovative, sustainable business platform with a unique product portfolio that supports the energy transition and benefits the local economy.

Today, the refinery produces traditional and lower carbon road fuels and is the UK’s only refinery to supply sustainable aviation fuel at scale. Additionally, the refinery is Europe’s largest producer of speciality graphite coke, a critical mineral used in lithium-ion batteries and in electrodes for recycling steel in electric arc furnaces.

As part of plans to lower operational emissions, the refinery is also exploring hydrogen refuelling and carbon capture. We are proud to be part of Humber Zero, a project crucial to decarbonising the Humber region for a net zero future. As part of this initiative, we plan to retrofit carbon capture technology at our Humber Refinery to reduce operational emissions. Together with VPI’s Combined Heat and Power Plant, we aim to capture up to 3.8 million tonnes of CO2 annually once operational.

Our refinery is strategically located close to the planned Viking CCS CO2 pipeline, which will transport captured carbon emissions from the Humber region to depleted gas fields in the North Sea for storage. Led by Harbour Energy, Viking CCS has been awarded Track 2 status as part of the UK government’s CCS cluster sequencing process. In collaboration with VPI, we aim to have the first two carbon capture plants connected to this pipeline to transport industrial carbon emissions for permanent storage.

Nuada

Nuada is a vertically integrated pure-play carbon capture company that is poised to decarbonise heavy industries through its next generation point-source capture technology. The technology has combined advanced solid adsorbents (Metal Organic Frameworks or MOFs) with proven vacuum swing technology to vacuum CO2 out of industrial emissions through a “heatless” and solvent-free process. The use of pressure instead of heat represents a step-change innovation that slashes the energy and costs barriers for mass adoption of carbon capture in industry.
Nuada builds energy-efficient CO2 filtration machines that enable industrial emitters in hard-to-abate sectors to achieve their Net Zero targets whilst minimising the impact on their bottom line. The technology is currently being deployed in the field at pilot plant-scale by industry leaders in the energy and cement manufacturing sectors. The first pilot plant will be installed and tested in Buzzi Unicem’s cement plant in Monselice (Italy) within 2023 and similar demonstration campaigns will follow in other suitable sectors such as steel, waste-to-energy, and blue hydrogen.
